AIDS stands for Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome. To be diagnosed with AIDS, one must be HIV-positive and diagnosed with one or more AIDS indicator illnesses, such as Kaposi's Sarcoma or wasting syndrome or have a T-cell count below 200.
